This course introduces the participant to the sport of Parkour, which is a discipline that involves moving from one obstacle to the next. It requires strength, balance, speed and body awareness. Over the 10 week course students will learn these core skills and find new ways to apply them as their ability grows.
The Beginner Parkour class is a one hour program designed for students to learn and develop new skills required for the sport.
Each lesson begins with a 5 minute warm up run followed by 15 minutes of stretching. This warms up the muscles, loosens up the body, and helps prevent injury.
Advanced Parkour is a one hour program for the students that have mastered the skills of the beginner program, and are prepared for the next stage of parkour. Students should be ready to learn the flipping motions, how to climb higher obstacles, flip off the walls, and experience The Art of Motion.
Each lesson begins with a 5 minute warm up run followed by 15 minutes of stretching. This warms up the muscles, loosens up the body, helps prevent injury, and prepares students for jump warm ups. Jumps will include straight, tuck, and straddle jumps, step-step up down, parkour rolls. Students will be reminded about the importance of landing safely. Having a good handstand will also be stressed, as more than 90% of the skills in parkour will require holding your own body weight. Finish with handstand parkour roll, cartwheels and round off.
